Renaissance Ballroom T-shirt
They called it the Renaissance Ballroom, but it was more than a place to dance. It was Harlem’s heart—half jazz temple, half social furnace—where elegance met sweat and a Saturday night might last ’til Tuesday morning. Built by Black investors in 1921, it wasn’t just a venue, it was a statement, “We don’t just belong—we own the damn place.”
This tee revives a classic promo image from its heyday, when the Ren hosted everyone from Count Basie to community meetings. It was home to dance marathons, basketball games, and that sweet spot between church shoes and spiked heels. The text at the bottom even preserves the original address at 7th Ave & 138th St and phone number (ALgonquin 3-1945) that predates 10-digit dialing by about 50 years.
The Ballroom’s gone now—bulldozed in 2015 to make way for something bland and boxy. But this shirt? This shirt still knows how to swing.
